The Welsh Premier Division, (Welsh: Uwch Gynghrair Cymru) known for sponsorship reasons as the Indigo Group Premiership, (Uwch Gynghrair grŵp indigo) is a rugby union league in Wales first implemented by the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) for the 1990–91 season.

**Wales Premiership**

The Welsh Premiership is the top tier of rugby union in Wales. The league was founded in 2003 and is contested by 12 teams. The season runs from September to May, with each team playing 22 matches. The top four teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the play-offs, with the winner of the final being crowned Welsh Premiership champions.

The Welsh Premiership is one of the most competitive rugby leagues in Europe. The league has produced a number of world-class players, including Sam Warburton, Alun Wyn Jones and Leigh Halfpenny.

The current Welsh Premiership champions are Cardiff Blues.
